Local entrepreneur, Paul Harvey, is taking steps to open his own sports store in Aylmer. The 21-year-old, who currently works at Sports Aux Puces Gatineau, has been inspired to start his own franchise after learning the ins and outs of the sporting goods industry.
"Sports have always been my passion, and I'm fortunate to have had the opportunity to participate in various sporting activities, from skiing and soccer. As a result, I have gained extensive knowledge and experience with different types of sports equipment. Sharing this expertise with fellow sports enthusiasts is something I find incredibly fulfilling. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned athlete, I will help you with whatever you need to make informed decisions when it comes to selecting the right gear. So, let's work together to elevate your sports experience to new heights," said Paul Harvey, expressing his love for sports and dedication to helping others find the perfect equipment.
Harvey's vision for Sports Aux Puces Aylmer is to specialize in the sale of new and used sporting goods, as well as offer the potential purchase of used items to save money, the rental of certain items, and maintenance and repair of sports equipment, including: sharpening skates, maintaining skis and doing bike repairs. "Here at our store, we're committed to promoting sustainable practices, and that's why we're thrilled to offer a fantastic recycling program.
When you bring in your gently used sporting goods, we'll reward you with a credit that can be used toward the purchase of other items in our store. It's a win-win situation that not only helps to reduce waste but also allows you to update your sports gear collection while saving money. So, come and be a part of our sustainable community today!" said Harvey, inviting customers to join in on the environmentally-friendly initiative.
To help make his dream a reality, Harvey has launched a crowdfunding campaign on La Ruche website to raise funds for start-up costs. The campaign aims to raise $10,000 to cover salaries, materials, inventory, and operation funds. Those who support Harvey's vision and want to help him get his business off the ground can donate to the crowdfunding campaign on La Ruche website: https://laruchequebec.com/en/projet/aidez-nous-a-amener-sport-aux-puces-a-aylmer.
Harvey's mentors and business partners, Fred Guilbault and Matthew Sargeson, owners of Sports Aux Puces Gatineau, are backing him in his project. "It's not often that you see such an ambitious 21-year-old. He is a very driven employee and manager at our store in Gatineau. We believe in his vision to own his own store, and we are training and helping him in his mission," said Sargeson.
Harvey's crowdfunding campaign on La Ruche is an opportunity for supporters to contribute to the success of his business and help make his vision a reality. With the backing of his mentors, business partners, and the community, Harvey is well on his way to bringing Sports Aux Puces to Aylmer. Starting July 1, 2023, sports enthusiasts in the area can look forward to high-quality, affordable sporting goods, expert advice, and excellent after-sales support from a passionate and knowledgeable young entrepreneur.
