Two separate incidents requiring police intervention occurred on Saturday March 11 at the Galeries Aylmer shopping centre.
Shortly after 6 am Gatineau police received a call for a break-and-enter the Délice Café. The business was reportedly the victim of a theft. Allegedly, the suspect smashed the cash register and stole the cash.
On the scene, police met with witnesses and the business owner. The area was closed off so investigators and a crime-scene technician could analyze the scene. Gatineau police say the investigation is ongoing.
Later the same day, shortly before 4 pm, Gatineau police received another call concerning a disturbance involving several teenagers in the mall. According to the witnesses, a group of teenagers beat up another teen.
When the police arrived, they were told the youths involved were leaving the premises through the back of the building. The officers were able to locate the suspects, who attempted to flee on Leguerrier Street. Some of the suspects were caught and identified by officers.
The victim, a teenager, was met by the police. He had a facial injury. He was checked by paramedics but was not transported to hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
