The Old Aylmer Summer Festival, which took place on August 16, 17 and 18, has a new name but the formula remains the same: shows and exhibitor markets.
Several artists performed on stage Friday and Saturday evenings including musical artist Jay Flynn, Rebecca Noelle who offered a Disco evening and Elvis Presley impersonator Mat Shank, a young man from Gatineau who is in the top 10 in the Ultimate Elvis competition.
The Monastère, on Principale Street, hosted an outdoor cinema evening on Saturday evening. An exhibitors' market also took place on Broad and Park streets and around Basoche. Unfortunately, several exhibitors canceled their participations due to the bad weather forecast for the weekend.
Other activities were organized on the sidelines of the festival organized by APICA. Among othjers, the Auberge Symmes Museum presented an interactive theater on the history of Allumettières and a concert by Gatineau singer-songwriter Gilbert Troutet.
The festival aims to celebrate Aylmer's pride and energize the sector, according to Nathalie Lavergne, Coordinator at the Association of Professionals, Industrialists and Traders of the Aylmer Sector (APICA).
