The Canada Goose
The Canada goose, commonly known as the bustard, is a round-billed, web-footed water bird in the goose family. Easily recognized by its large size, black head and long neck, and brown body, which contrast sharply with its pale breast and the white patch that extends from its cheeks to under its chin.
It prefers wetlands such as ponds, lakes and rivers, but unlike many waterfowl species that feed in aquatic environments, it feeds mainly on grasses, cereals and berries on land.
Geese put on quite a show in spring and autumn
with their migratory flights, heralding the change of season. V-shaped or diagonal flight patterns enable them to conserve energy and cover greater distances. If you can't see them, you can hear them cackling loudly in flight.
But do all geese migrate?
