The Quebec government has announced a significant investment aimed at enhancing road safety in the Outaouais region. Mathieu Lacombe, the Minister of Culture and Communications, Minister Responsible for Youth, and Minister Responsible for the Outaouais Region, made the announcement on behalf of Geneviève Guilbault, the Deputy Premier and Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility. The investment totals $245,661,000 and will be allocated over the next two years to various projects within the region's transportation networks.
Joining Minister Lacombe for the announcement were Suzanne Tremblay, Member of the National Assembly (MNA) for Hull; Mathieu Lévesque, MNA for Chapleau; and Robert Bussière, MNA for Gatineau. The funding will support several significant projects, including the continuation of the intervention plan for Route 105 in the municipalities of Low and Gracefield, the resurfacing of Boulevard des Allumettières near Boulevard des Grives to Highway 50 in Gatineau, and the repair of the Quevillon Bridge westbound on Highway 50 over the Lièvre River in Gatineau.
"Our objective is clear: to provide Quebecers with safer and more comfortable roads," stated Geneviève Guilbault. "The implementation of the projects announced today reaffirms our commitment to modernizing our transportation networks. To achieve this, we are dedicating nearly $7.7 billion to maintain our assets in good condition and improve our infrastructure across all regions. Investing in our roads creates quality jobs and contributes to Quebec's economic vitality."
Mathieu Lacombe expressed his satisfaction with the investment, highlighting its significance for the Outaouais region. "This substantial investment is excellent news for our region. I am pleased to see that our caucus's representations have borne fruit, particularly for Route 105, the extension of La Vérendrye, and the continuation of work on Highway 50. Thanks to this funding, several projects will take shape, having concrete impacts on the municipalities. All citizens of the Outaouais will benefit from more efficient and safer travel."
Suzanne Tremblay and Mathieu Lévesque also expressed their satisfaction with the investments. They highlighted the importance of road safety and the positive impact the investments will have on the development of transportation infrastructure in the region.
Robert Bussière commended the government's commitment to the regions and its rigorous work in planning future projects for 2025-2026, including highly anticipated work on Routes 105 and 366.
