In a remarkable demonstration of generosity and community spirit, businesses and philanthropists across Quebec have raised more than $1,556,000 for the Quebec Cancer Foundation’s 2024 corporate campaign. Contributions from the Outaouais region were particularly significant, reflecting a steadfast commitment to assisting those impacted by cancer.
The campaign, which ran from October to December, featured Cancerto benefit evenings held in cities across the province, including Gatineau. These events combined fundraising efforts with exceptional musical performances, attracting thousands of participants united by a shared purpose. The evenings showcased performances by the Orchestre du Septième Art, Moodlight Band, Generation, and other acclaimed talents, fostering a profound sense of solidarity.
In the Outaouais, long-time supporters Steve Bouthillette and Philippe Poirier of RBC Dominion Securities played a pivotal role in the initiative’s success. For more than a decade, their team has provided vital support to the Quebec Cancer Foundation as Excellence sponsors of the Cancerto benefit evening in Gatineau. Beyond this event, their contributions extend to regional initiatives such as FestiVie, the popular dragon boat race held in Gatineau.
During this year’s Cancerto Montréal evening, held at the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal, Philippe Poirier was honoured for his exceptional dedication by being named a Gouverneur of the Foundation. In recognition of his contributions, he received a unique work of art from Atelier Bernard Séguin-Poirier, symbolizing the Foundation’s deep gratitude.
Registration is now open for FestiVie: The Dragon Boat Experience, scheduled for June 2025 at Lac-Lemay Park in Gatineau. This event celebrates life and the strength of unity, inviting corporate teams, school groups, non-profits, and individuals to participate while raising essential funds for people in the Outaouais facing cancer.
Companies interested in registering corporate boats with visibility opportunities can contact Chantal Sabourin at csabourin@fqc.qc.ca to select a partnership package that best suits their needs. Full registration details are available at festivie.ca.
“On behalf of the Foundation, its beneficiaries, and their families, I would like to express deep gratitude to the Quebec business community. Their support allows thousands of Quebecers to access vital resources that improve their quality of life as they navigate the challenges of a cancer diagnosis,” said Marco Décelles, Executive Director of the Quebec Cancer Foundation.
