Premier fibre event, Twist Festival, draws enthusiasts nationwide

In a celebration of all things fibre, the highly anticipated Twist Fibre Festival is poised to captivate visitors from August 11 to August 13. The renowned textile event will unfold at 530 Charles-Auguste-Montreuil Street in Saint-André-Avellin and is expected to draw in a diverse crowd, including passionate fibre enthusiasts, industry professionals, and talented artists and artisans.

As the largest fibre festival of its kind, Twist has garnered a reputation for its vibrant showcases and extensive array of offerings. The festival's doors will be open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, welcoming attendees to immerse themselves in a world of creativity and craftsmanship.

Visitors can look forward to a mesmerising display of over 130 exhibitors who will present their finest work, including exquisite textiles, hand-dyed yarns, unique knitting patterns, and a wealth of other fibre-related treasures. Moreover, Twist offers an engaging lineup of activities and workshops designed to cater to all skill levels and interests.

Among the highlights are some 40 diverse workshops where participants can learn and master a wide range of techniques. From spinning art yarn and dyeing with natural pigments to wet felting and basket weaving, these workshops are a perfect opportunity to explore and develop one's fibre artistry.

Among the talented artists participating in the festival is Katy Lemay of Tableware par Katy Lemay, who shares her heartfelt connection with the event. "The Twist festival is love at first sight for me, one of my favourite markets in which I participate as a craftswoman. I was welcomed with open arms from the first year and allowed to sell products with enthusiasm. I am honoured to have been able to contribute my illustration work to create the official poster," expressed Lemay. Her remarkable creations are not limited to the festival; they can also be found on her Etsy shop online.

For those looking to glean insights from seasoned textile artists, Twist will feature a series of short documentaries directed by Agnès Création. These films will delve into the fascinating world of four renowned textile artists, providing a rare glimpse into their creative processes and inspirations.

The festival will present textile art performances, demonstrations of sheepdog herding, and engaging activities for both adults and children. To ensure a holistic experience, Twist will host a local food fair, offering delectable treats that celebrate the region's culinary delights.
