Police respond to serious assault in Aylmer

An investigation has been launched following a serious assault that occurred in the early hours of Friday, July 11.

At approximately 6:15 am, officers from the Gatineau Police were called to a residence on Promenade Lakeview in the Aylmer sector in connection with an assault. Upon arrival, they found a 60 year-old man suffering from serious injuries. Paramedics provided immediate medical assistance and transported the victim to hospital. His current condition has not been disclosed.

A suspect was arrested at the scene without incident. Police have not released the identity of the individual in custody, nor have they confirmed the relationship, if any, between the suspect and the victim.

A security perimeter was established around the residence to allow investigators and forensic technicians to carry out a detailed examination of the scene. Officers remained on site for several hours.

Several individuals are expected to be questioned as part of the investigation, which is focused on understanding the events that led to the assault. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward by contacting the SPVG INFO line at 819-243-4636, option 5.

No charges have been laid at this time, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
