Outaouais under path of Solar Eclipse on April 8
Tashi Farmilo
On April 8, residents of the Outaouais region experienced a near-total solar eclipse, a celestial event not to be seen again in Canada until 2044. During this phenomenon, the moon passed between the Earth and the sun, casting a shadow and covering up to 98.7% of the sun's disk in the Outaouais.
Viewers observed the eclipse starting at 2:11 pm and concluding at 4:35 pm. This rare occurrence provided a unique opportunity to observe the sun's outer atmosphere and the dramatic interplay of light and shadow.
