Old Aylmer food tour, the perfect way to explore old Aylmer!

Aventure Outaouais is now offering Old Aylmer food that takes participants to five food and drink locations in the heart of Aylmer. Aventure Outaouais founder and tour guide, Brandon Bolduc, was born and raised in Aylmer and hopes to share its charm and history with this tour.
“The tour took me about a year to develop and is the newest tour,” said Bolduc. “I think Aylmer is an amazing destination, and restaurants and hotels have been an important business in Aylmer for decades. I thought having a food tour in Aylmer would be a great way for people to enjoy some of the best restaurants in Gatineau but also to learn about our history and stories.”
Bolduc describes the tour as a historical walking tour with lots of food. “Participants are in for a treat, with stories, history and delicious local food. The tour is perfect for tourists as well as locals.”
There are five food and drink locations on the tour including Bistro L’Autre Oeil, which offers a large variety of imported beers and food. Participants also get to stop at Restaurant Antonyme to experience their constantly changing menu. Béatrice et chocolat, a local artisan chocolate boutique is also on the tour, along with William J. Walter Aylmer, a Québécois family-owned company offering over 60 varieties of sausages. Finally, tour-goers will be able to enjoy two beer samples and learn about the production of craft beer in the backroom of 5e Baron, a local brewery.
The Aylmer food tour takes place every Wednesday night from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. It includes free transportation in the tour minibus, with pickups and drop-offs in Ottawa and Gatineau.
“We’ve had fantastic feedback; you will never leave hungry. People love the locations, they sometimes get to meet the owners, and get the history of the locations,” said Bolduc. “Participants never leave hungry!”
Aventure Outaouais began giving tours in June 2022. They offer Pontiac Wine & Cider tours, Petite Nation Wine & Cider tours, Outaouais Craft Beer tour, a Gatineau Park E-Bike tour, and a Kayak & Summit tour.
