L’As de Jeux is here to stay
The Gatineau board games store had a few pop-ups in the Galeries Aylmer over the past few years. They have recently announced their decision to stay permanently in the mall and have signed a lease for the next year. "We will be spending the next 4 to 6 weeks improving the store and enhancing our product offering,” said the owners.
Ras l’Bol heads to Hull
Sadly, Aylmer is saying goodbye to Ras l’Bol. The owner announced that the ramen restaurant is moving to a new location in Hull. The restaurant remained open in Aylmer until January 30. “A big thank you to everyone who has supported us: “customers, merchants, associations, and local events,” said the owner, Romain Riva, in his announcement. “Your energy has been invaluable.”
Bettina & Cie officially opens on Principale
Residents may have noticed a new shop at 105 rue Principale in the past few weeks. Bettina & Cie officially opened its doors in January. The shop offers a wide variety of local and Canadian products, as well as soap and body products that are made in house. Bettina et Cie will also be offering soap-making workshops! The shop is run by the owner, Bettina Hamacher and her two partners Denise Morissette and Melissa Solomon.
Hamacher is a seasoned business owner, having previously founded another business in Aylmer selling similar products. This background helped her establish her new shop in the heart of Aylmer. “There are so many amazing artists in the area; people have so much talent,” she said. “I just want to show them off and sell all their beautiful artistry.”
Gin et Chips closes shop
Aylmer food lovers may have noticed that Gin et Chips has closed its doors. The seafood restaurant will surely be missed. The building located at 11 rue Front is now for sale.
La Nomade is getting new owners
Aylmer’s staple women’s clothing store La Nomade, located at 103 rue Principale, is getting new owners. France Roy, the current owner of the shop, recently announced she will be retiring after 40 years of running La Nomade in Aylmer. The new owners Jacinthe and Christine have been working with Roy for a couple of years and took over the business on February 1. Their shared experience in business and fashion make them perfect for La Nomade.
“They have a similar vision for La Nomade but I’m sure they will add their touch. It’s going to continue as it was – I’m very happy,” said Roy, highlighting that she feels privileged to have worked with her loyal customers.
