Nautical safety at the forefront of Aylmer festival

The nautical unit of the Gatineau police department (SPVG) set up an information booth on nautical safety to raise awareness about it, during the Fête du nautisme at the Aylmer marina on Sunday, July 9.
According to the police officers, one of the issues, and a very important one, is the life jacket: either there are not enough for the number of people on board the boat or the jackets do not comply with the boating safety standards. In addition, SPVG officers remind people to always wear their life jackets when aboard a watercraft.
Other infractions noted by officers include not having or carrying a competency card, not having a boat registration and lack of basic safety equipment depending on type and size of the boat.
