Love the Best of Aylmer, love everything Aylmer
Lily Ryan
By open, public vote, Aylmer selected finalists in 51 categories. The finalists in each category are published in the following pages. Readers should know that the team at the Aylmer Bulletin published the categories with empty lines for the public to fill-in whichever business, association, location, person that they wanted for each category.
The idea is for local places and people to be highlighted for the great work they do. We all have our favourites in Aylmer, the Best of Aylmer Readers’ Choice Awards is a free way to help them. This year, the number of votes went up from 3,600 to over 8,000. The last vote was in 2020, just as Covid hit and businesses were shut down. The voting time ended the very week the shut-down was announced.
Calculating, tabulating, organizing, printing and everything else involved with running this campaign has been a tremendous effort for the Aylmer Bulletin team. It has been an all-hands-on-deck effort to ensure the voting campaign and preparations for the event are done well.
The greater family of the Aylmer Bulletin depends on all things local. The advertisers in our newspaper are part of the big local family that makes Aylmer, Aylmer. And many are found in this list of finalists on pages 18 & 19. Please, readers, shop with them, tell them you saw them in the newspaper and that you voted!
June 1, the finalists will gather at the Gatineau Golf Club for the Awards Gala at 6 pm. This event is by invitation-only for the finalists. Again, it is a free event meant to celebrate Aylmer’s finest. The Results booklet will be published in the June 7 edition, with photos of the winners.
Congratulations to everyone!
