Lace up: Outdoor Skating Rinks Are Officially Open in Aylmer

Jude Osmond

Outdoor hockey is back in Aylmer. The rinks have opened after a good week of double-digit negative temperatures in Aylmer, which froze the rinks.

Hockey is a big thing around Aylmer; even when it's not happening at Frank Robinson Arena, it's always happening out on the outdoor rinks. It's important to people, not just hockey players, because it gives people a chance to get outside and play some hockey with friends.

“It’s awesome, gets everybody out there, gets your whole gang out there, yeah, it’s just fun.” said Caden Provost.

The outdoor rinks are a good place to get social and socialize with friends and family as you play hockey with them.  Finding a rink will never be a problem in Aylmer, as there are at least seven active rinks, with Wychwood Park being the most popular.

Whether it’s putting your stick in the middle for a big game or skating around and just shooting pucks, it all leads to a good time.

“Spending time with your friends is the most essential part of it, but spending time with them in the atmosphere of an outdoor rink makes it special,” Provost said.
