It was great to meet you!
On Sunday, July 26, the Alliance set up its information booth to meet with people walking along the Voyageurs Trail near Impasse Claudette-Burke, at the end of Vanier Road. For several years now, the Alliance has been setting up its booth once or twice during summertime to keep the community informed about the Alliance’s mission and to inform them about the rich historical and natural heritage of the entire area that the Alliance wants to see protected.
On this sunny Sunday morning, our volunteers counted, in just a few hours, more than 400 cyclists and nearly 100 walkers using the Sentier des voyageurs near our booth. Everyone who stopped by the booth, to learn more about the Parc Deschênes Alliance, expressed their support for the conservation and protection of this natural area as well as for the remains of the Deschênes Rapids. Many people were already aware of the activities offered free of charge to everyone by the Alliance and encouraged us to continue our work. Others spoke to us about the Deschênes neighbourhood and its historical significance. A few visitors from Ottawa also mentioned that this was their first time visiting this part of Gatineau. Hoping that everyone can continue to visit and enjoy this beautiful natural area for a long time to come!
