Intoxicated pedestrian struck by vehicle in Gatineau

A 34-year-old man from Gatineau was struck by a vehicle after attempting to enter it while intoxicated. The incident occurred on April 1, around 9:00 pm near the intersection of Chemin d’Aylmer and Samuel-Edey street.
According to the Gatineau Police Service (SPVG), officers arrived at the scene to find the involved parties and witnesses. A security perimeter was established to allow for a thorough investigation.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the man, in a state of intoxication, tried to get into a moving vehicle and subsequently clung to it. He fell from the vehicle during this attempt.
The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Following the incident, he was arrested, and charges of mischief and disturbing the peace are expected to be filed with the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP).
