École Internationale du Village, St-Paul campus, is set to witness a transformative change as the local councillor, Steven Boivin, has announced a grant of $20,000 for the international school to revitalize its green spaces. This exciting decision reflects a dedicated effort to cultivate a vibrant and sustainable environment that will benefit both students and staff members alike.
Responding to a request from the school, the councillor recognized the need to address the lack of green space and shade in the schoolyard, particularly after recent redevelopment efforts. The initiative seeks to restore the balance and provide students with a refreshing and pleasant outdoor area during their breaks and outdoor activities.
One of the key elements of the project involves adding and replacing trees and shrubs in the schoolyard. This greenery will not only enhance the aesthetics of the campus but also provide shade and contribute to a healthier environment. The school has also partnered with Partenaires du secteur Aylmer to establish a garden that will be maintained by students and staff, promoting hands-on learning about horticulture and sustainable practices.
Furthermore, plans are underway to create an innovative outdoor classroom equipped with solar blankets, tables, and benches. This unique learning space will allow students to enjoy the benefits of fresh air and natural surroundings while continuing their education.
Although the design of the outdoor classroom is subject to change based on product availability and supplier selection, the school aims to provide a comfortable and engaging environment for students.
The adoption of $20,000 from the councillor's discretionary fund demonstrates a commitment to investing in the future of the school and its students. By greening the campus and creating a vibrant outdoor learning environment, the initiative aligns with the growing importance of sustainability and holistic education.
The greening initiatives at the international school are set to begin soon, and the positive impact they will have on the students' overall educational experience is eagerly anticipated. The school hopes that these changes will inspire other educational institutions to prioritize similar projects and create greener and more sustainable learning environments for the benefit of students worldwide.
