Originally from Buckingham, Micheline Lemieux was a nurse and teacher. She was a great volunteer and activist for heritage conservation in the Aylmer sector and was president of the Aylmer Heritage Association from 2016 to 2021. Ms. Lemieux was also the recipient of a Heritage Certificate from the City of Gatineau.
Several personalities spoke to highlight her work and dedication including Steven Boivin, councilor of the Aylmer district, Marie-Pierre Gratton, daughter of Micheline Lemieux, Jean-Paul Perreault, president of Impératif français and Nathalie Lavergne, coordinator of the Association of professionals, industrialists and merchants of the Aylmer sector (APICA).
The ceremony ended with a performance by the duo of Isabelle Cyr and Yves Marchand organized as part of the APICA’s Folk and Guitar Festival.
“I will remember this day,” said Micheline Lemieux's mother, Jeanne-d'Arc Lemieux-Boutin, 98, who was also present at the ceremony.
