Have you seen them and read them?

Perhaps during your summer walks, you’ve noticed the informational signs that the Alliance Parc Deschênes has installed at five popular locations in the park. Perhaps you’ve also read their message explaining why the Alliance is seeking special status to protect this green space that stretches along the Ottawa River, between the Deschênes Rapids and Fraser Road.

Three of the signs inform hikers about the richness and diversity of the habitats and species of flora and fauna found there, whether along the riverbank, near the oak grove, or on the outskirts of Lamoureux pond. The other two signs—one located near the red bridge close to Vanier Street and the other at the entrance to the small parking lot on Fraser Road—provide a summary of the site’s points of interest, including traces of regional history. They also remind hikers of the guidelines for respecting the environment, to better protect the area’s exceptional historical and natural heritage in preparation for the future Deschênes Park.
