Gatineau to host first Suppliers Day event for local businesses
Greg Newing
The city is inviting businesses in Gatineau to a public event on September 14 at the Maison du Citoyen. Titled Suppliers Day, the event will be an opportunity for businesses to learn about the city’s new policies on local and responsible procurement and to ask questions directly to city representatives and partner organizations.
The event is the first of its kind in Gatineau and aims to support those who do business or are interested in doing business with the city. Six municipal and partner organization presentations will be given throughout the day and participants will have opportunities to ask questions directly to municipal representatives. Suppliers will also have the opportunity to present the goods and services they offer to the City.
Partners working with the City who will be present at the event include: Investment and Development Gatineau (ID Gatineau), Regional Outaouais-Laurentides Development Cooperative (CDROL), Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO), CISSS de l’Outaouais, Hydro-Québec, the Responsible Sourcing Practices Network (ECPAR), and the provincial Anti-Corruption Unit (UPAC).
The City said that businesses and registered social-economic enterprises located in Gatineau are invited to attend. In particular, ethnoculturally diverse businesses and businesses with sustainable and responsible practices are encouraged to participate.
“On September 14, come join us for the first event for Gatineau-based businesses. Whether you’re a small business or large corporation, come and find out about Gatineau’s new procurement policies and to talk to key partners in the community,” said Edmond Leclerc, President of Gatineau’s Economic Development Commission and councillor for Buckingham. He encouraged businesses to register soon, as places are limited.
The event will take place from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm in the Gilles-Rocheleau agora at the Maison du Citoyen located at 25 rue Laurier. Businesses must register in advance by filling out the registration form at www.gatineau.ca/journeefournisseurs before September 12. Registration is free of charge. More information and the presentation schedule can be found on the registration page.
