The Gatineau Police are seeking public assistance to identify a suspect involved in a hit-and-run that occurred on the evening of July 8 at the intersection of Boulevard de l'Hôpital and Boulevard Saint-René Ouest. The incident took place around 7:30 p.m. and involved a collision between a pickup truck and a moped.
According to police, the moped, driven by a 16-year-old girl, was heading west on Boulevard Saint-René when it was struck by the truck traveling north on Boulevard de l'Hôpital. The driver of the truck fled the scene without offering assistance to the injured girl. Fortunately, her injuries, while requiring medical attention, were not life-threatening.
Several witnesses at the scene provided statements to the police, contributing to the ongoing investigation. The Gatineau Police have since obtained images of the suspect vehicle, described as a grey Ford F-series (250 or 350) Super Duty with four doors. The truck is noted for having a logo on the door that suggests it may be equipped with a diesel engine, vertical door handles, and a set of running boards. At the time of the incident, a large ladder was mounted in the truck's bed, extending over the roof.
The police have expressed gratitude to the bystanders who provided aid to the injured girl, emphasizing that their actions made a significant difference. The Gatineau Police continue their investigation and urge anyone with information about the incident or the suspect vehicle to contact their information line at 819-243-4636, option 5. All tips will be treated confidentially.
