Gatineau extends Maryline Caron’s term as Ombudsman until 2026

The City of Gatineau has announced the contractual extension of Maryline Caron as Ombudsman for the Office of the Ombudsman of Gatineau. Her tenure has been extended until August 28, 2026, following ratification by municipal council members during a meeting on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
The Office of the Ombudsman serves as a final recourse for residents who have exhausted other internal complaint mechanisms. The process typically begins with the city’s 311 service, which provides an initial point of contact for resolving issues or obtaining information. If the problem remains unresolved, residents may file a formal complaint directly with the relevant municipal department. Should these steps fail to produce a satisfactory resolution, the Ombudsman’s Office can intervene.
The office offers a free and confidential resource for residents who believe their rights have been disregarded or who feel they have been treated unfairly or unreasonably by municipal services.
