Fire Station open house day

Several people took advantage of the good weather to attend the Open House Day of the Service de sécurité incendie de Gatineau (SSIG) held at the Roland-Guertin fire station on Wilfrid-Lavigne Boulevard, Saturday September 30, 2023. The SSIG put forward activities as part of the fire Prevention week, the theme being « Le premier responsable, c'est toi ! » [The person responsible is you!]. Officially, the Fire  Prevention Week is from October 9 to 15 but the fire service has extended the week over an entire month to give people more opportunities to learn about fire safety measures. Children were able to learn certain safety behaviours through games and adults received home safety messages on such topics as evacuation plans and the importance of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
