Councillor: Steven Boivin
District 1, Aylmer
Message to Residents about mandate so far:
“I am honoured to represent the Aylmer District on City Council,” said Boivin, Aylmer councillor. For his mandate, the city appointed him chair of the Recreation, Sports and Community Development Commission, vice-chair of the Arts, Culture, Letters and Heritage Commission and chair of the Smart City Committee. “I initiated the presence of elected officials and citizens on the committee to update the terms of reference for citizen participation and, with several citizens, founded the District Council, a monthly meeting with residents and heritage associations.”
Message to residents about plans for 2023:
“2023 will be a very important year for our district and for all of Gatineau,” said Boivin. “For the district of Aylmer, several files require a lot of attention.” He noted that storm water management and reprofiling of ditches in the Wychwood sector, the expansion of the Entre-Nous community centre, the construction of the new Lucy-Faris library, the implementation of the Cedars Park Master Plan and the upgrading of the old railway trail are a few of the files that will be significant in the coming year.
“Given the demographic growth of our sector, we will also prioritize the work for the implementation of the Old Aylmer Town Plan. This step is important in order to align development and heritage protection,” Boivin continued. The Aylmer councillor pointed out that Gatineau will have several important files in progress in the next year that will have a long-term impact on the development of the city. Specifically, the sports complex in the West, the police headquarters, the recreational, sports and community response plan, affordable housing, the renewal of cultural policy and the updating of the frame of reference for participation.
“I would like to thank all citizens who are involved in the development of our community. Members of associations, organizations, entrepreneurs, volunteers, citizens, thank you for participating in the unique quality that distinguishes our sector,” concluded Boivin.
