Several local, federal and municipal political figures participated in a spaghetti dinner for the benefit of the Solidarity for Aylmer Arms, at the Aydelu Center on Saturday, August 24, 2024.
The objective of the fund is to raise $350,000 to help the residents affected by the fire on June 29. One hundred and thirty people attended the dinner, which began around 5:30 pm, after short speeches from elected officials, including Mayor Maude Marquis-Bissonnette and the MP for Hull-Aylmer, Greg Fergus. In addition to a $5,000 donation, the Aydelu Center participated by providing the food and the community room at no cost.
Therefore, 100% of the $25 per person was donated to the solidarity fund. Also, $3,350 were raised by the owner of Remax Direct in Aylmer, Mr. Ken Hubert. He challenged Aylmer business owners to match his donation of $1,000, saying “seniors were our clients for decades, we wouldn’t exist without them. It is our turn to help them.” The President of the Aylmer Arms Administration Board, Stéphane Marcil, at the Mayor’s left, thanked people for their solidarity and said he was satisfied with the success of Saturday evening's event.
