Bringing comfort... one stitch at a time
Manon Grégoire-Fleury
Hundreds of Izzy Dolls, knitted with love by the Aylmer Legion's Knitting Group, are on their way to comfort children in crisis overseas.
Many thanks to Mrs. Angela McIntyre who volunteered to transport the Izzy Dolls from Aylmer to the Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC) Distribution Center located in Oakville, Ontario.
AN ECO-RESPONSIBLE HUMANITARIAN INITIATIVE.
Izzy Dolls are knitted by our volunteer knitters from donated wool, and are used in lieu of packaging material for Humanitarian Medical Kits. These Kits are carried by Canadian volunteers on medical missions to serve vulnerable communities around the world. Once they reach their destination, Izzy Dolls are distributed to comfort children.
The Aylmer Legion's Knitting Group also makes blankets, shawls, scarves, mittens and other items for veterans, the elderly, the homeless and those in need in our community.
The Knitting Group meets every Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Aylmer Legion Branch 33 located at 59 Bancroft Street, Aylmer, Quebec. All are welcome to join!
