Blaise T. Ryan’s 14 Rules for Good Health (Part 3)

Simple and practical rules to boost vitality and keep you one step ahead of stress and illness

By Blaise T. Ryan, R.TCMP, R.Acu | www.blaiseryan.com

Rule #3: Silence your mind daily

Dozens of scientific experiments and studies have proven the beneficial effects of meditation. Not only does it lower cortisol levels, which reduces internal inflammation, but it also helps clear the mental and emotional clutter that can easily build up due to today’s hectic and demanding world.

Meditation is really a way to be still and silence the mind. It doesn’t matter what kind of meditation you do. Take 5 minutes twice a day to just do nothing but focus on breathing and allow your mind to become silent. Silencing the mind isn’t only achieved through meditation. Qigong, art, yoga, tai chi, playing music, bird watching, exercise and many other relaxing and rejuvenating activities can also induce the silent mind state.

Even if you just get 30 seconds of a silent mind, this emptiness is like a trash can for the build-up of stress. For every second of mental silence you achieve, you gain minutes of enhanced clarity of mind, focus, productivity, good judgment and energy. It’s a positive return on investment that is well worth a few minutes of inner stillness.

Try it and experience the benefits for yourself.  If you want to learn a powerful self-healing meditative practice, come to my weekly Qigong classes in Aylmer.  Full class details are here: www.aylmerqigong.com

These 14 Rules will continue in the next issue or you can go to my website at www.blaiseryan.com/blog/ to read the rest of these 14 Rules for Good Health now.
