Aydelu Community Centre to organize Ice Fishing Derby

The Aydelu Community Centre is back to pre-pandemic scheduling with events and activities. Located at 94 du Patrimoine in Old Aylmer, Aydelu is a staple to the community, hosting various events throughout the year.
Guy Rochon, President of the Aydelu Centre said that, although the pandemic prevented them from being as active in the past few years, the Community Centre is back to normal scheduling of events and activities.
Usually organized by the Knights of Columbus, the ice fishing derby was cancelled for the past two years due to Covid-19 restrictions. Before this, the ice fishing derby took place annually for 12 years and had nearly 240 participants each year.

This year the Aydelu Centre is taking over the organization of the popular event. The tournament will be part of Gatineau’s Plaisir d’Hiver (Winter Fun) programming and will take place at the Aylmer Marina on Saturday, February 25, from 11 am to 3 pm.

Registration for the ice fishing tournament will take place on site.

The community centre is also hosting a seniors’ Valentine’s Day dinner that local politicians usually attend and help serve meals. Tickets have already been distributed. There will be between 200 to 250 participants.
Weekly Bingo is still in full swing at the centre every Wednesday evening. Doors open at 4 pm and places are limited. There is $3,800 in prizes.

The community hall is available for rental for organizations and individuals looking to host an event. To reserve the hall, individuals can contact the President at 819-598-7663.
