Angelique Francis, the JUNO-nominated singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, will be performing at Cabaret La Basoche in Aylmer on Friday, May 12, 2023. Francis, who has wowed audiences worldwide with her powerful and textured vocals, will showcase her unique blend of blues, soul, folk, jazz, gospel, and rock.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Canada, Francis first gained attention as a young prodigy. She took to the stage at age 7 and made her American national television debut at 13 on the Oprah Network, for writing and composing an original theme song for the Gayle King show. At age 14, she was playing at music festivals across North America, opening for a variety of acts such as Beth Hart, Trooper, and Shameka Copeland.
Over the past few years, Francis has established herself as a bona fide star on the Canadian blues, soul, jazz, and folk scene. In March 2022, she released her most recent album, "Long River," which weaves through a variety of styles from blues to soul and classic R&B. The acclaimed album showcases Francis's signature powerhouse soulful vocals, commanding bass/guitar hooks, and infectious blues-infused melodies.
Francis has shared the stage with a large roster of well-known musicians such as Gary Clark Jr, Joe Bonamassa, Eric Gales, Keb’ Mo’, Jimmy Vivino, Beth Hart, Tom Cochran, Burton Cummings, Sugar Ray, and many more. Her diversity, passion, and love of music can be heard in all of her original compositions.
The upcoming performance at Cabaret La Basoche is expected to be another electrifying showcase of Francis's talents. Fans of blues, soul, folk, jazz, and rock won't want to miss this event.
Tickets for the show are available for purchase at the Centre culturel du Vieux-Aylmer. Admission charges apply, and the show runs from 8:00 pm to 9:50 pm.
