A chance to grow for our oak trees…

Alliance Parc Deschênes

The Alliance is taking steps to help restore the oak trees that give our forest its name.  We observed that at least a dozen young oak trees had sprouted along the Voyageurs Trail in the future park, but they were being smothered by the buckthorn plants lining the trail.  So this summer, we set out to clear the areas around the young saplings and installed metal stakes with labels to clearly mark their presence – bearing the message ”Young oak- let me grow!”.  We hope that in years to come these young trees will be able to establish themselves, grow tall and take their rightful place, for the future of our forest.
