A beautiful morning discovering the mushrooms of Deschênes Forest!

On October 4th, about forty enthusiastic participants gathered at Deschênes Forest for a mushroom outing organized by the Alliance Parc Deschênes, in collaboration with the Outaouais Amateur Mycologists Association.

Despite a particularly dry September, there were plenty of discoveries! Among the great finds, participants were able to observe the hen-of-the-wood (Grifola frondosa), a meaty mushroom considered an excellent edible. The cinnabar polypore (Trametes cinnabarina) also caught everyone's eye with its stunning bright orange color.

All morning, participants and guides observed and shared insights about the diversity of mushrooms in the forest. A great opportunity to pay attention to the fascinating world at our feet!
