Since the last months of 2018, the building located at 195 rue Principale has been vacant. The building previously held a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) and a Pizza Pizza.
The building was considered dilapidated according to information filed by the owner in 2021. The same year the owner submitted a demolition request as well as a plan for a new 30 unit building with commercial space. However, the requests were withdrawn by the owner in June 2022 for an unknown reason. Gatineau says the owner has yet to request a demolition or propose another project.
“The building is not a health and safety risk; therefore, the city cannot ask the owner to demolish,” said Gilles Chagnon, Lucerne Councillor.
Gatineau says the owner has yet to request a demolition or propose another project. For the time being, there are no plans for the 195 rue Principale building.
